Human Clinical Research Facility
The Human Clinical Core (HCC) is located in the Human Clinical Research Building on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. Our mission is to provide human clinical research support for faculty and external sponsors to conduct research at Texas A&M University on a fee-for-service basis.
Facilities
Designed for diverse clinical trials, from overnight studies to advanced physiological assessments, the Human Clinical Research Facility (HCRF) offers an unparalleled blend of state-of-the-art resources and sets the stage for breakthroughs in health and science.
Overview
The Human Clinical Research Building (HCRF) is a 23,000-square-foot biomedical research facility specifically designed to perform human clinical trials at TAMU.
Clinical Research Unit
The HCRF currently contains seven hospital-style study rooms that contain 12 beds for overnight research.
Participant Monitoring
There is a nursing/participant monitoring station outside of the study rooms in the clinical research unit.
Assessments
The HCRF contains a wide array of physiological and medical monitoring systems (see Services and Research Capabilities).
Diagnostic & Imaging Capabilities
MRI imaging capabilities in the Texas A&M Institute for Pre-Clinical Studies (TIPS) which is about half mile away from the HCRF. Participants are schedule for appointments as needed.
Exercise Training & Rehabilitation
The HCRF contains a comprehensive training facility to do exercise and rehabilitation intervention studies in healthy and special populations.
Aerospace Engineering SAC Centrifuge
Construction has been completed on an Aerospace Research Annex to the HCRF that houses the short-arm centrifuge (SAC) formerly built by NASA and housed at the UTMB in Galveston, Texas.
Research
Initiating Collaborative Research
Faculty members and external sponsors can follow this process to initiate collaborative research with resident PI’s and/or fee for service (FFS) projects in the HCRF. Fee for service projects are independent from resident PI’s research efforts.
Services & Capabilities
In addition to housing a center and several labs, the HCRF also serves as a Human Clinical Core facility that can use to support their research by reserving space to independently collect data, have HCRF staff collect data for their independent projects on a fee for service basis, or collaborate with researchers housed in the HCRF.
Research Space
The HCRF was developed to be a resource for faculty at TAMU and the TAMHSC to conduct human clinical research trials.
Funded Clinical Trails
The HCRF provides a resource for resident and non-resident PI’s to conduct human clinical research at Texas A&M in College Station as well as for external sponsors to fund fee-for-service projects and/or grants and contracts.
Service Contracts
The HCC offers a fee-for-service option for faculty at TAMU and external sponsors to commission projects where ESNL staff in the HCRF collect data for them on their independent projects. The following provides a list of projects conducted for TAMU faculty and external sponsors.
Grants and Contracts
The HCRF provides a resource for resident and non-resident PI’s to conduct human clinical research at Texas A&M in College Station as well as for external sponsors to fund fee-for-service projects and/or grants and contracts. This has resulted in numerous collaborations across campus, proposal submissions, and funded grants and contracts.
